Meet the Zalahka’s.  The Zalahka’s are from Jenin.  A place that is known for it’s fierce freedom fighters, political art and agricultural know-how…oh ya, and it is one of the most conservative cities in the West Bank.  They have become my adopted family -  though I’m not sure if they adopted me or I adopted them.  We’ve been to Jenin probably about 10 times this year, and have rarely left their house.  Who would want to?  It is a hotbed of activity, kids running in and out, non-stop laughter, amazing food. Plus, I just converted the whole family into Ramallah Street Hockey fans…it wasn’t easy though…people from Jenin are not prone to promote Ramallah.  And I’m not convinced they understand what hockey is yet.  Baby steps.
